More Star Wars-related hijinks

Thanks to Shiong for the heads-up!

Grand Prix day

Seeing that I've been to every Melbourne Grand Prix since 1996 it would have been remiss of me to not go this year!

Thanks to Dino and Lisa from work I managed to get some pit access during Friday afternoon as well.

Love that tartan Jackie!

Graduation day

Well this was the day that my parents and grandmother had been waiting years for. Personally, I wasn't that concerned by a bit of pomp and ceremoney but it seemed to make them happy.

It turns out that you can't officially call yourself 'Dr' until you officially graduate, either in person or in absentia. Well.. too bad as I've been calling myself 'Dr' from time to time ever since I came to England.

Here are some pictures of the big day...erm.. night...erm.. evening.

Lucas goes to the beach!

No trip home to Australia would be complete without a visit to the old family beach house at Anglesea. It was Lucas' first ever trip to see the Ocean and he was incredibly excited. He looked very dashing in his brand new blue and yellow swimmers.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't ideal for swimming on the first day we went, so Lucas was restricted to just paddling.

That evening we drove to Lorne for dinner. Lucas loved Dad's Peugeot 205 GTi so much that he wanted to drove home, and he looked so cute behind the wheel that we almost let him.

The following day began brightly and the weather was glorious. Unfortunately we had to return to Melbourne that day for my graduation so we only had time for a quick walk up and down the Point Roadknight Peninsula.

We left Anglesea in time so that we could stop off for lunch at our favourite pizza restaurant in Melbourne, Papa Gino's on Lygon St. I've been going there ever since my frist week of uni in February 1993. Great to see Alex and Harry again!

Yum Cha with Lucas

Lucas got his first taste of Yum Cha. His favourite was the Char Siu Paos.. with their fluffy sweet bread!

Nat's birthday party

We threw a big party at my parents' house for Nat's birthday. It also gave us a chance to catch up with loads of people whom we hadn't seen for the best part of a year. There were so many little children at the party.

Lucas enjoyed playing with all of his new friends.

As day turned into night, my parents' backyard transformed into a world-championship quality downball arena.

The final game of the evening featured a titanic tussle between myself and Cam which seemed to never end.

Ultimately, I made a fatal error going for a tricky shot and was left ruing my luck, whilst Cam just walked away with a smile of truimph.. they do say winners are grinners.

We finished the evening in the best fashion possible, take-away pizza and beers!

Thanks to everyone who made the effort to attend and make it such a great day. See you all next year!
